Neil arrived! We haven’t seen our dear friend and one-time roommate since we rolled through Ohio after the last engine rebuild. As I mentioned yesterday, he is about to cart us and the bus all over the damned country.

The kindness of our friends
Maybe you’ve noticed some backsliding on our blog as of late. That’s because we had a major breakdown. I’ll spare you all the technical stuff and just say this: a part broke in the engine that will be a major and not-easy repair. For those of you playing along at home, this is the secondContinue reading “The kindness of our friends”
The Forgotten Coast
Head north and west from just about all of Florida and you’ll find our favorite region in the Sunshine State—the Forgotten Coast. Last time I posted, we had visited Cedar Key—a cool, laid-back town with plenty of places to relax. Well, we moved a little farther up the coast, around the bend and into theContinue reading “The Forgotten Coast”
Podcast: Art and Paula
We were traveling through Southern Vermont when we were invited to hang out around the campfire with some VW Bus area celebrities. Check out this unedited literal fireside chat with these folks.
Cedar Key
After my post lamenting the tourism of Key West, our Miami driveway host, a VW guru named Ian, told us that we would find old Florida at Cedar Key. Podcast: Tracy Carlucci

They drink coffee from mugs and he has a little teak trayContinue reading “Illness on the road”
Podcast: Nate
We were returning to Ohio from our shakedown trip to Michigan this past July so we used VanAlert to find a place to stay and we found Nate’s driveway. It turns out Nate’s driveway was a bit more posh than we expected. He asked us to drive around back where he had an honest toContinue reading “Podcast: Nate”
Happy anniversary
A year ago, Miracle and I stood outside with a few close friends and family to exchange vows. We both improvised what we said, but the stories we recalled were of the same stripe—our travels.
Springs n things
We got into Florida nearly a week ago and have now made it mostly to the south end. Man, it is a long, busy state. Before we left Ohio, Miracle said she wanted to swim in as many bodies of water as possible—tide pools, oceans, rivers, lakes, and springs. So far in Florida, we’ve managedContinue reading “Springs n things”
